Supporting Young People Across Nottinghamshire
This year marks a truly special milestone for us at The Centre Place — 30 years of supporting young people across Nottinghamshire.
For three decades, we’ve had the privilege of walking alongside young people through some of the most important — and sometimes most challenging — moments of their lives. As we reflect on our journey, we’re incredibly proud of where we started, how far we’ve come, and the difference we continue to make today.
💙 Where It All Began
From the very beginning, The Centre Place was built on a simple but powerful idea: Every young person deserves a safe space, someone to listen, and support they can trust.
In our early years, much of our work focused on supporting young parents — helping them navigate parenthood, build confidence, and create positive futures for themselves and their children. Through guidance, practical support, and a strong sense of community, we helped many young families feel less alone and more empowered.
Alongside this, we offered drop-in sessions where young people could come as they were — without appointment or judgement — to ask for advice, share worries, or simply talk. These spaces became lifelines for so many, offering reassurance, understanding, and a place to belong.

🌱 Growing With Young People
As the needs of young people have evolved, so have we.
Today, we continue to build on our strong foundation with services that meet young people where they are — emotionally, socially, and personally.
Through Talkzone, we provide dedicated support for young people experiencing challenges with their mental health and emotional wellbeing. Whether someone is feeling anxious, overwhelmed, low, or unsure how to cope, Talkzone offers a compassionate space to talk, reflect, and find ways forward.
We know that mental health is deeply personal, and no two journeys look the same. That’s why we focus on listening first — helping young people feel heard, understood, and supported at their own pace.
🌈 Supporting Identity, Belonging and Pride
Another vital part of our work is the support offered through the LGBT+ Service Nottinghamshire.
For many young people, understanding who they are — including their sexuality and identity — can feel confusing, isolating, or even overwhelming. Our services provide safe, inclusive spaces where young people can explore these questions without fear of judgement.
Here, they find:
Acceptance
Community
Trusted guidance
The freedom to be themselves
We are proud to stand alongside young people as they navigate their identities, helping them build confidence, self-understanding, and pride in who they are.
✨ 30 Years of Impact — and Still Growing
Looking back, it’s clear that while our services have grown and changed, our purpose has remained the same:to support, empower, and uplift young people.
Every conversation, every session, and every connection made over the past 30 years has contributed to something bigger — healthier individuals, stronger communities, and brighter futures.
💬 Looking Ahead
As we celebrate this milestone, we do so with gratitude — for the young people who trust us, the staff and volunteers who make our work possible, and the community that surrounds us.
But more than anything, we look ahead with hope.
Because there is still more to do.More young people to reach.More voices to listen to.
And we are ready.
💚 Thank You for Being Part of Our Journey
To everyone who has been part of The Centre Place over the past 30 years —thank you.
Here’s to continuing to grow, support, and stand alongside young people for many years to come.
