Local Charity Secures College Counselling Contract, Bringing Hope to Students

As a local charity, we're excited to announce that we have won a contract to deliver counselling services at nearby colleges, marking a significant step forward in supporting young people’s mental health and wellbeing.
The agreement, announced this week, will see trained counsellors from our organisation provide regular sessions to students, offering a lifeline at a time when demand for mental health support is at an all-time high.
The Centre Place, long recognised for its commitment to community care, was selected after a competitive tender process. Commissioners praised its track record of delivering accessible, high-quality support and its ability to tailor services to the unique needs of young people.
For the college, the partnership represents a proactive investment in student welfare, ensuring that learners have access to professional help within the familiar environment of their campus.

“This contract is more than just a business win — it’s about creating safe spaces for students to talk, to be heard, and to find strategies for coping with the pressures of modern life,” said Georgia, CEO of The Centre Place. “We know that academic success is closely linked to emotional wellbeing, and we’re proud to play a role in helping students thrive both personally and professionally.”
Students will be able to access confidential one-to-one counselling sessions, about issues such as stress management, resilience, and building healthy relationships. The service is designed to complement existing pastoral care at the college, bridging the gap between everyday support and specialist intervention. We know that early intervention can prevent more serious mental health challenges later on.
Georgia continued, "We're proud of our ability to integrate with wider health and social care networks, ensuring that students who need additional support can be referred seamlessly to external services."
For the local community, the contract is a source of pride. It reflects not only the charity’s dedication but also the growing recognition of mental health as a priority in education. Parents, staff, and students alike have expressed optimism that the initiative will foster a healthier, more supportive learning environment.

Just days into the programme being launched, we're already working with clients and encourage students to take advantage of the new service. With its blend of compassion, professionalism, and community spirit, this partnership promises to make a lasting difference in the lives of young people — and to set a benchmark for how colleges can respond to the mental health needs of their students.
