Over the years we have supported thousands of disadvantaged vulnerable children, young people and families, making a positive life-changing impact for them and for the wider community.

Our History
The Centre Place is a registered charity that was established in 1996, in response to the identified need for a local service focused on homelessness and housing needs for young people. Since then, the services we have provided have expanded and developed to continue to meet local needs.
We then added a support service for young parents to the organisation in 2001 and evening life skills sessions in 2002. In 2004, we introduced our Talkzone Counselling Service. Then in 2010 we established a LGBT+ Provision in W.O.W (Worksop Out on Wednesdays). This then became LGBT+ Service Nottinghamshire in 2016.
Our Development
In 2017, we took a closer look at our work with an independent service evaluation. We wanted to make sure we were focusing on the right areas and making the biggest difference we could in our local area.
The evaluation showed that, since our doors at The Centre Place had first opened, many local services has changed and developed across Worksop, Bassetlaw and the wider Nottinghamshire area. These changes had a positive impact and increased the support available for children and young people beyond our centre.
We then combined the review’s findings with our own monitoring and regular discussions with partner organisations. This showed us that as local services had grown, there was also a growing need for us to increase the development of our services, focusing on LGBT+ and Mental Health Support.
Services We Provide
As a result of these findings, this led to The Centre Place to becoming the parent organisation for services delivered under LGBT+ Service Nottinghamshire and Talkzone. These services were developed by The Centre Place and continue to be delivered, managed and monitored by the organisation.
